Trolls

Norway is the land of the Trolls, fantastic creatures coming from the Edda, the nordic myth of creation. Most of the time ugly, neither good nor evil, even stupid and clumsy, the Trolls are nonetheless powerful, known as invincible and, most of all, terribly dreaded by humans.

Ogres or giants, sometimes both, double-headed or one-eyed, they can devour or petrify humans. On the roads of the rich fantasy of Norwegian forests though, there is always a young Askelad, ready to defy the Trolls, to trick them and beat them.

As Abbi Patrix tells the stories of the most inspiring fairy tales of Norway, he is sometimes Askelad, sometimes a king, sometimes the king’s daughter, or a Troll. In doing so, he gives back a bigger place to the Trolls in the contemporary western imagination.
